About HTX Backyard & how it works

HTX Backyard is a Houston-based matching service. We connect homeowners in Houston, Katy, Cypress, The Woodlands, Sugar Land, Pearland and nearby areas with local builders for new pools, pool renovations, patio covers and outdoor kitchens.

How it works

1. You send one request with your project type, ZIP code, budget range, timeline and HOA status.
2. We review it. If you’ve given consent, we look for one participating builder who tells us they serve your area and project type. If we find one, we share your request with that builder only and email you their name.
3. Your matched builder contacts you to schedule a site visit and give you a quote.
4. You decide. You don’t have to hire anyone. If you do hire a builder, your contract, payments and warranty are directly with that builder.

How we make money

HTX Backyard is free for homeowners. Participating builders pay HTX Backyard a fee for introductions. Depending on our agreement with the builder, that may be a fee per introduction or a fee tied to projects they win. Builders can’t pay to change what our guides say, and the guides cite public sources.

What we don’t do

• We aren’t a contractor, project manager, inspector or lender.
• We don’t set prices or guarantee any price, and we don’t guarantee any builder’s work, schedule, licensing or insurance.
• We don’t sell your information to data brokers.

Before you hire any builder

• Ask for a certificate of insurance and confirm it with the insurer.
• Ask who pulls the permits, and get a copy of each one.
• Check references and recent reviews.
• Get a detailed written contract, payment schedule and warranty.
• Make sure trades that need a license, such as electrical and plumbing work in Texas, are done by licensed people.
