Township approval applies to alterations and repairs

The Woodlands Township says its Covenants and Standards require prior written approval from the Residential Design Review Committee or its staff for the “placement, construction, alteration or repair” of any structure or improvement on a lot with an existing home.[4] Its application tips say owners and contractors should mark the outline of improvements, including pools, pool decking and pool equipment, before staff site visits.[4] Applications go through the Township’s Civic Access Portal, and Neighborhood Criteria can add rules for your lot.[4] The Residential Development Standards list some improvements that are pre-approved and need no application.[5] Ask your builder, or call Covenant Administration at 281-210-3800, to check whether your scope needs an application.

Grogan’s Forest exception: homes in Sections 5, 6 and 7 of Grogan’s Forest (Cantwell Forest, Avalon Oaks and Dulcimer Woods) are under both the Township and the City of Shenandoah, which use a joint application process.[4]
